Firearms debate

The firearms debate in the United States is sharply divided between the Gun control position of Nanny state liberals (like Democrats and Socialists) and the Gun rights position of libertarians and conservatives. Liberals favor laws restricting private ownership and possession of guns, arguing that fewer guns will lead to less gun violence. Libertarians and conservatives favor laws that promote private ownership and possession of guns. Such libertarian and conservative patriots argue that guns help people to defend themselves against criminals (who never follow laws especially gun control laws or gun free zone laws) and government tyranny such as a potential future out-of-control police state who no completely ignores the Constitution and Bill of Rights (See Oath Keepers defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.

Slogans

Liberals and socialists support "common sense" measures - a "good first step" of the Nanny State. To a citizen-prepper-patriot and to the Bill of Rights, this is "death by a thousand paper cuts".
